Nordplus Junior – Digitalisation vs Nature? project kicks off in Iceland in September 2025

13.10.2025

At the end of September, we attended the kick-off mobility for Nordplus Junior mobility project Digitalisation vs Nature? with a teacher training in Iceland, where GeoCamp Iceland organised a week of fantastic programme for teachers from Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia at Reykjanes area in Iceland.

The project focuses on hands-on, practical learning in nature in connection with the seasons, instead of spending too much time in the digital world. We had visits to Sudurnes Science and Learning Centre where we learned about the vast natural resources in Iceland, visited local schools to find out about their practical methods of teaching, as well as Reykjanes Geopark. We also visited Reykjavik and had a guided tour of the Golden Circle sights, from the Hellisheidi Geothermal Exhibition to Gundfoss waterfall and Tingvellir national park.

The week was a memorable introduction to Icelandic nature and culture, as well as getting to know all the people in the national teams – we very much look forward to the next mobility, which LFI ry will organise in Finland in winter 2026.
